HOLLIS Numbers Needed!

I had an interesting discussion with one of the staff members from the Phillips Reading Room today. She mentioned that it would be helpful if, as a standard practice, reference librarians would ask patrons to write down the HOLLIS number of an item in addition to the call number, especially where serials are concerned. Phillips Reading Room staff members use the HOLLIS number in order to retrieve resources for patrons. We won't always know when a patron is destined for Phillips, so it might make sense to offer the HOLLIS number in addition to the call number as a standard practice, explaining to the patron what each stands for and how to use it. I imagine there are other things we'd like to know about how to streamline our services alongside those offered in the Phillips Reading Room. Would anyone be interested in having a larger conversation with staff members in that unit?
