The Hollis RSS feed tool allows you to learn about new acquisitions of recent publications in a particular subject (how to create an RSS feed explained here)---and one way to do that is to do an advanced search with a specified date (2013-2013).
I just discovered that you can create a perpetually up-to-date feed by doing your subject search, then restricting it by "published within the last 3 [or 10] years." Instead of counting back from the day you created the feed, it will count back from the current date every time it queries the feed.
Corrina Baksik confirms: "The 10-year span updates itself automatically. It also includes one year into the future, to account for new publications that are dated that way, which happens for various reasons."
A neat trick to share with students who like using feed readers---and a way to make sure your LibGuide will always list the latest books!
