Widener Microfilm RR Search Tool not fully up-to-the-minute

FYI: the Newspapers on Microfilm search tool gets its info from a database that is currently not being maintained. Steven Riel, Manager of Serials Cataloging just learned about the discrepancy and is looking into getting the search tool back up to date. What this means for us is that if the year you were really hoping to find doesn't show up in the holdings, it might be worth going down to check, especially for recenter acquisitions.

p.s. I would say "double-check in Hollis," but, for the title that led to these discoveries, the Newspaper RR search tool had more accurate holdings info than Hollis did. (And even that was missing 7 years' of holdings.) Might have been just the one example, but it certainly argues for double-checking on the shelf. One theory (Burchsted and Harter 2013) is that some microfilms, although containing material dated prior to 2008, were received and processed during the period when serials holdings weren't being actively updated.
