OIS thinks the problem may be popup blockers (though we haven't verified yet on the particular Lamont computers we'd used). The save-search link generates a pop-up window that allows you to give your search a name and select whether you just want it saved or if you also want regular email alerts with updated results.
If no dialog box displays, your search won't last beyond the session (no matter how many times you click around, or try to drag to folder, or furrow your brows at it (as Ramona and I discovered!).
When the box does display, be sure to name your search. If you don't, it won't store properly (a known issue).
Finally, if you haven't had the opportunity yet to try saving searches and items in "My Research," here are the quick steps (courtesy OIS):
- Craft your search and run it, and then add any filters or facets until you're satisfied with the query.
- Scroll down and look on the left menu, below the facet options, to the "Save search" link. Click it.
- A pop-up window appears titled "Save Search/Alert", asking you to name your saved search and allowing you to choose whether you would like to receive alerts. Select the desired options and click the "Save" button.
- You should get a confirmation in yellow that your search has been saved.
