Announcement from Jim Ryan:

I am delighted to announce that the second Teaching and Learning Week at HGSE will be held soon, from October 6 to October 10.  A website containing comprehensive information about all Teaching and Learning Week activities can be accessed at bit.ly/hgselearn.

The week will offer a variety of experiences for faculty, students, and staff to share and explore innovations in teaching and learning taking place here at HGSE.  A series of “Learning Demo” sessions are designed to expose members of the community to a sampling of the many forms of teaching to be found at HGSE through active engagement in learning activities.  A number of these sessions will connect specifically to classroom practices related to our yearlong community conversation on Fulfilling the Promise of Diversity, including sessions by Karen Mapp, Gretchen Brion-Meisels, and Mandy Savitz-Romer.  Other faculty members—including Jim Honan, Liz City, Eleanor Duckworth, Shari Tishman, Karen Brennan, Kathy Boudett, Pamela Mason, and others—will offer special sessions that span a range of topics and approaches to learning.  In addition, each morning of Teaching and Learning Week will begin with a new essay from an HGSE faculty member reflecting on his or her practice as a teacher.
